ABOUT THE ARTIST

After 25 years as founder, publisher, editor-in-chief and artistic director of New Jersey Countryside Magazine, in 2015 Allene Stanton Fay returned to her first love – painting. Working out of her studio in Tewksbury Township, New Jersey her canvases celebrate the rich beauty surrounding her Hunterdon county home. A strong sense of place and time characterizes her expressive realistic work.

Her paintings reveal a deep appreciation of the countryside – captured in every season. The artist studied at American University earning an MFA with a concentration in 13th and 14th century Italian art. Over the years, she worked as a reporter for the Yardley News, taught Introduction to Art and Art History at Rowan University, and headed the health care marketing effort at one of New Jersey’s fine boutique ad agencies. Travel to Martha’s Vineyard, England’s Lake District and Venice, Italy has allowed her to add studies of other locations to her predominantly countryside-based work.
